Yes! Private in-home training sessions allow us to work in your dog’s real environment, addressing obedience, daily manners, public access skills, and specialized alert tasks with personalized guidance for you and your dog.
We use science-based positive reinforcement—rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, and play to build confidence, reliability, and joy in learning. This approach teaches dogs to work because they want to, not out of fear or compulsion.
Day training gives your dog one-on-one focus with a trainer for 3-5 days per week for 1 hour, allowing us to make progress on obedience, behavior modification, or specific task work while you observe or receive feedback in a transfer session. This does some or all of your homework and accelerates learning.
Training timelines vary depending on the dog’s age, experience, and the tasks being taught. Many service dogs require several months to a year of consistent training to master obedience, public behavior, and advanced alert tasks.
Yes — we specialize in training for both medical alert tasks (like diabetic or seizure alerts) and psychiatric service work, tailoring the program to your needs and your dog’s capabilities with positive reinforcement methods.
Every dog receives a thorough evaluation of temperament, drive, focus, social skills, and task potential. Dogs who aren’t suited for full service work can still thrive in custom behavior and home-care programs designed to improve their quality of life as a companion.
Absolutely! Owners are part of the process in every session—whether in home, or private lessons. With Stay and trains, I work with your dog 3-5 days per week. During Transfer classes, I help you to support, reinforce, and maintain your dog’s skills long term.
We address unwanted behaviors (fear, overstimulation, reactivity) positively by building confidence and teaching alternative, appropriate skills. Behavior modification is integrated with obedience and service task work when appropriate.
While official ADA certification isn’t required by law, we offer documentation of training progress and readiness to support your ongoing goals and public access needs.
Yes, I send Quarterly reports to the courts to fulfill your behavior modification requirements. I also conduct aggression evaluations to take to court.
Every dog learns best when they are confident and not overwhelmed. Trainers carefully arrange the antecedents—the things that happen right before a behavior—based on your dog’s current abilities, their comfort level, the environment, and even weather conditions. For example, we might practice in a quieter area before moving to a busy park, or train indoors on a rainy day or reschedule classes during snowstorms to prevent distraction. This ensures your dog can succeed, builds confidence, and creates reliable results in real-life situations. You never lose a credit and all sessions will be given in accordance with your dogs needs
